Rima Aristocrat

Rima Aristocrat has been bridging the skills gap between education and industry for more than 40 years; she is the founder of the Willis Cybersecurity Academy, the Veteran Friendly Transition Program, TeKnoWave Inc., with a focus on indigenous programs and primary founder of the Women in Technology Scholarship. Rima Aristocrat, President and CEO of Willis College, pioneered a new approach to skills training that engages prospective employers at the program development stage, injecting specific industry content right into the formation of the student’s diploma program. By tailoring diploma programs to specific industry needs, Willis College and the Willis Cybersecurity Academy have become a source of new talent that is helping to feed Canada’s largest IT hub in Ottawa and Kanata. Students use millions of dollars of proprietary equipment from industry partners such as Sophos, Fortinet and Check Point, which enables them to be job ready the moment they graduate, while at the same time positioning Willis College as the paramount talent pipeline for these growing companies and more.

Vice President, Strategy, Marketing & Communications, Invest Ottawa

Sonya Shorey

Sonya Shorey, She is currently Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Communications for Invest Ottawa, lead economic development agency for knowledge-based industries for Canada’s Capital, and Bayview Yards, Ottawa’s one-stop business acceleration shop. Sonya is a communications executive and management consultant with more than 20 years of leadership experience with private and public organizations. With expertise in regional, national and global technology, entrepreneurial, economic development and innovation- based organizations, she specializes in corporate and communications strategy development and execution. Sonya launched her career as the Manager of Communications and Member of the Vice- Presidential Cabinet with the 10G Organization of Optical Networks for Nortel from 1999 to 2002, and then as the Director of Marketing Communications for CMC Microsystems until 2007. Building on a decade of experience, Sonya launched her own strategy company in 2008, addressing the needs of S&T organizations, innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development agencies across Canada, and their partners around the world. Sonya holds a Bachelor of Arts, Combined Honours in English and Political Science from Carleton University, and has won nine international awards for her work in communications.

Vice-President, External Relations, University of Ottawa

Dr. Jacline Nyman

Dr. Jacline Nyman is currently the Vice-President, External Relations, for the University of Ottawa. As vice-president, external relations, Jacline is responsible for the activities of the Development Office, the Alumni Relations Office, the Communications Directorate, Language Services and Advancement Services, ensuring they are consistent with the University’s mission. Prior to joining the University of Ottawa, Jacline was the president and CEO of United Way Centraide Canada, where she led a national movement for social change. Immediately prior to assuming this leadership role, Jacline worked with the Smith School of Business (Queen’s University) as executive director of development and alumni relations, serving as principal gifts strategist and chief development officer. Jacline received an adjunct professor appointment at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa in 2012 and upon her appointment as vice-president becomes associate professor. Jacline holds a Bachelor of Administration (University of Ottawa); an MBA (University of Calgary); a doctorate in Business Administration — Marketing (Cranfield University, U.K.); and, the ICD.D corporate governance designation from Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Senior Executive

Marc Rivard

Marc Rivard has been working in the Consulting Engineering Industry for over 30 years. During the last 13 years, he has been leading strategy in terms of top line growth, operational excellence, M&A’s, business turn around, employee engagement, client satisfaction and top tier profitability. Mr. Rivard joined SNC-Lavalin in July 2014, leading approximately 7500 professionals. He was head of the global Infrastructure Engineering business unit, which provides consulting, planning and engineering services in a variety of markets including Rail & Transit, Highways & Bridges, Environment & Geo-Science, Aviation, Ports & Marine, Complex Buildings, Municipal infrastructure, Water & Waste Water. Prior to this, Mr. Rivard worked for WSP (previously GENIVAR) for nearly nine years, where he was President of the company’s operations in Canada, the Caribbean and France. Leading more than 5,000 personnel in over 100 offices, he played a key role in the firm’s acquisition strategy. Previously, Mr. Rivard worked for Stantec for 19 years where he was a managing principal and primary lead for the firm’s building engineering segment in Canada’s National Capital Region. Mr. Rivard joined Stantec through its acquisition of The Boileau/Gesmec Group in 1995, where he was a Partner and a Vice-President. Mr. Rivard holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a registered member of the Professional Engineers Ontario and Quebec Order of Engineers.

President, CAMSC

Cassandra Dorrington

Cassandra Dorrington is currently the President of the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC), a non-profit organization dedicated to the economic empowerment of Aboriginal and visible minority communities through business development and employment. Ms. Dorrington was formerly the president and owner of Vale & Associates Human Resources Management and Consulting Inc., a company specializing in providing human resources management and consulting services to public and private clients nationally and internationally. From 2001-2004, she worked with Deloitte as part of their people practice. Ms. Dorrington sits on the National Advisory Committee for the PSPC, and is a founding member of both Supplier Diversity Alliance Canada (SDCA) and Global Supplier Diversity Alliance (GSDA) to facilitate collaboration and connection while driving a more inclusive procurement. In addition to sitting on Dalhousie University's Board of Governors, Cassandra also sits on the Black Business Enterprise Board as past Chair and is currently a member of the departmental Audit Committee for the federal department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. A graduate of Saint Mary's University Executive MBA Program, Ms. Dorrington also holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a CMA/CPA designation.

President, Bruyère Foundation

Peggy Taillon

Peggy joined Bruyère Foundation with a passion for its important mission and a deep respect for its rich past and many accomplishments. A passionate advocate for equality and social justice, Peggy has led one of Canada’s longest established organizations the Canadian Council on Social Development, influencing public policy and the changing landscape for the third sector in Canada over the last several years. Prior to the CCSD, Peggy served as senior vice-president at The Ottawa Hospital, and previously led Ontario's Mental Health Implementation Task Force, a sweeping reform process. Peggy served as an Advisor to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and to the Premier on the implementation of Ontario’s Regional Health Authorities, Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs), along with a number of other major health reform processes. Today she sits on the Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and is co-chair to the Canadian Council on the Social Determinants of Health under the Public Health Agency of Canada. Peggy founded the HERA Mission of Canada in 2008, a foundation that supports women leading development projects empowering widows, children and grandmothers in Western Kenya. Through this work, Peggy honors the community where her son Devlin was born. Peggy was educated in Toronto and Ottawa and holds degrees in Social Work and Law, as well as advanced diplomas in mediation and negotiation.

Commercial Account Manager, Not-for-Profit & Embassy Markets, RBC

Corrine Cline

Corrine is a Commercial Account Manager with the Royal Bank of Canada specializing in the Not-for- Profit and Embassy verticals here in Ottawa. Corrine has been with RBC for nearly 13 years, starting as a personal account manager after completing her undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations from Western University, and then moving into a branch leadership position after the completion of her graduate degree in Conflict Studies from the University of Ottawa and St. Paul University. In her current role as a dedicated relationship manager, she oversees the cash management, investment and credit requirements unique to the not-for-profit world. Corrine grew up in rural Southern Ontario, eventually leaving for a period of time to live and work in the Northwest Territories. While there, she worked with the Territorial government on social and housing policy for Indigenous communities, exploring housing security before eventually settling in Ottawa. Throughout her career, she has volunteered extensively, recognizing that the achievement of social change requires an active voice and engaged citizenry. She is a fierce and outspoken advocate for women, gender equality and the advancement of women in leadership. She is the proud mother of a very active toddler, and wakes up every day wondering what the world will be like for him as he grows.
